A two-vehicle accident sent three Purdue University students to the hospital on Saturday night. They are listed in stable condition at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

The students were heading south for spring break on Friday night when the accident occurred on I-65 in Johnson County, according to authorities.

Andrew Gantt, 22, of Dayton, Ohio attempted to pass another vehicle in the southbound lanes of I-65 near the Indiana 44 interchange when his Jeep Liberty struck a Hyundai driven by Leonard Morris, 59, of Goshen.

It appears Gantt lost control of his vehicle and overturned after the vehicle struck an embankment.

The accident is still under investigation, but police say speed is believed to be a factor.
