One man is dead and a woman is in the hospital following a single vehicle car accident, Saturday.

The man, 66, of Bloomfield was traveling east in his 1996 Pontiac Firebird on Indiana 54 when he left the south side of the road, according to Greene County Sheriff's Department.

The vehicle struck two utility poles prior to hitting a tree on the drivers side door, leaving him trapped in the car. The passenger, a 38-year-old woman, was ejected from the vehicle and found lying beside the passenger side.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was airlifted to the hospital. Both driver and passenger did not have their seat belts on at the time of the accident.
