Five Injured in Vermillion Car Accident; One in Critical Condition

A two car accident on Indiana 163, Friday, left five people injured - one remains in critical condition.

The accident occurred when a westbound vehicle going around a turn lost control of the vehicle, spun and crashed into an eastbound car, according to police. Rain is a factor in her losing control of the vehicle. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.


Those injured in the accident include:

A woman, 19, of Rosedale, driver of the westbound vehicle was alone in the vehicle. She is listed in fair condition at Methodist Hospital in Indiana. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

A woman, 42, of Rosedale, driver of the eastbound car was transported to West Central Community Hospital, for treatment. Her current condition is unknown status late Friday. She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.

A boy, 16, of Rosedale, was listed in critical condition with serious injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

A girl, 8, of Rosedale, was treated at Clinton Hospital, her current condition is unknown. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

A boy, 14, of Terre Haute, was transported to Clinton Hospital, his current condition is unknown. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The highway was closed for 90 minutes, according to police.
