A man was cited Tuesday for leaving the scene of a car accident where two people were injured.

The 82-year-old man told police he was crossing Indiana 46 westbound at about 7:25am after he stopped at the intersection. His car hit a car driven by a 23-year-old Terre Haute man who was traveling northbound.

After the crash, he lost control of his vehicle, spinning before hitting another car driven by a 21-year-old man of Sullivan. Both men were transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital where they received treatment for minor injuries.

After the first driver crashed with the other vehicle, he saw vehicles blocking the road so he left, according to a police report. He drove to his daughter's house to get some help. A witness followed him led officers to him. He was taken back to the scene by his daughter who told police that her father suffers from Alzheimer's.

He was cited for leaving the scene of a personal-injury accident and signed a promise to appear in court.
