A car accident on Saturday night claimed the life of a Daviess County man, according to the Greene county Sheriff's Department.

The man, 52, of Elnora, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the Greene County Coroner's office, according to a media statement released by Greene County Sherriff's Department.

Witnesses told police that his 1989 White Buick Lasabre was traveling southbound on Indiana 57 when it crossed the center line for reasons still unknown and ran into a ditch on the other side of the road where it then struck a culvert.

His vehicle flipped several times before coming to rest, witnesses told police. There were no apparent skid marks on the road prior to the vehicle striking the ditch, the media statement said.

The accident is currently under investigation.
