Three people were transported to Greene County General Hospital on Saturday after a car accident involving a deer on Indiana 54.

A semi-trailer crashed into the back of a car driven by a 24-year-old man of Rosedale, just after 1:00 a.m., on Sunday morning, according to The Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the driver, the deer ran out into the path of his car so he slammed on his brakes and was then struck from behind by the semi, driven by a 24-year-old man, of Claremont, Ill.

He told officers that he was unable to stop in time to avoid the crash.

Indiana 54 was closed while the car was removed from the ditch, where it came to rest after being struck by the semi.

The driver and two passengers were taken to Greene County General Hospital with neck and back pain.
