Polaris Industries Inc., is recalling 2009 Polaris Ranger “Crew” and “6x6” Side-by-Side Recreational Vehicles because they have an electrical short which can lead to overheating in the rear tail light wiring hazard, thereby posing a fire hazard.

The company is aware of 46 reports of the tail light area overheating, resulting in melted plastic. In 22 reports, consumers reported small flames; no injuries have been reported.

The recall includes certain 2009 Polaris Ranger side-by-side, off road vehicles with the following model names and numbers:

Consumers can contact any Polaris Ranger dealer to schedule a free repair. In the meantime, the recalled vehicles should not be used.
