A Bloomfield woman suffered a severe head injury in a car accident, Monday, when her vehicle left the highway and rolled over several times, according to Lt. Bryan Woodall of Greene county Sheriff’s Department.

The woman, 27, was traveling on Indiana 45 when the accident occurred. Officials are unsure what caused the crash, but theorize she overcorrected the vehicle, traveled off the east side of the road, up an embankment and became airborne as she struck a tree.

The impact of the crash caused the roof, dash and driver’s side door to collapse. Center Township Fire Department had to cut her from the vehicle. She was flown by Air Evac Ambulance to a hospital in Indianapolis.

In addition to a head injury, she also suffered internal injuries and broken bones. Her current condition is unknown.

The woman was wearing her seatbelt and en route to work at the time of the crash, Woodall said.
