A jury found against Notre Dame Coach Charlie Weis in a medical malpractice lawsuit against two doctors he alleges botched his care following a gastric bypass surgery procedure he had five years ago.

The jury deliberated for three hours on Tuesday before deciding two Massachusetts General Hospital surgeons were not negligent.

Weis accused the surgeons of negligence for allowing him to bleed internally for 30 hours prior to performing a second surgery to fix the complications.

After the surgery in 2002, Weis became very ill and nearly died. He testified he has numbness and pain in his feet and at times has to use a motorized cart.

His lawyer was not available for further comment. Although he did say he Weis was on his way back to Indiana and doubted he would be filing an appeal.
