Man Pleads Guilty To Faking Slip & Fall Accidents

A West Virginia man has pleaded guilty to faking several slip and fall accidents.

Aaron D. Brown, 42, of Welch, entered guilty pleas last week in McDowell County Circuit Court, according to Insurance Commissioner Jane L. Cline.

Brown pleaded guilty to one count of obtaining money by false pretenses and four counts of fraudulent claims to an insurance company – both of which are felony charges.

He also agreed to pay restitution fees that total more than $21,000 to several health care providers and insurance companies.

According to Kline, Brown was accused of staging numerous slip and fall accidents and “foot run-over” accidents so that he could collect the insurance money.

Each count holds a sentence of up to 10 years for Brown. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 30, 2009.
