Accident Slows Traffic Near South Bend

An early morning truck accident west of South Bend, on Sunday, slowed Toll Road travelers.

The accident, involving a semi-truck and car, happened three miles west of the St. Joseph Valley parkway exit at mile marker 72. The accident was reported at 2:45 a.m.

According to Indiana State Police at least one person was injured in the accident. Those injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

The vehicles landed in the median, police said, after the first information that the accident was in the westbound lanes.

Authorities were expecting periodic traffic delays while rescue crews worked at the scene, said Indiana State Police. The accident is still being investigated.
