Two Indiana residents were killed in a tragic truck accident when their vehicle struck a tractor-trailer hauling hogs.

The accident happened on Sunday, just before 10 p.m. at Route 3 and Carver Street in Greensburg. The driver of the vehicle, 26, of Greensburg, failed to yield and collided with the tractor-trailer full of pigs.

The truck driver attempted to avoid the vehicle, but swerved and in doing so his truck overturned and landed on top of the vehicle, according to investigators at the scene.

The driver and his passenger, a female, 23, also of Greensburg, died at the scene. The driver of the truck, 33, of Laurel, and his passenger, 11, were transported to Decatur County Hospital with minor injuries.

Several of the hogs suffered serious injury in the accident and had to be put down following the accident.
